So, no one actually follows our blog, we don't think. We pin our stuff on pinterest and get some views, but that's about it. In the off chance that at some point in the future someone decides they want to follow our stuff we felt it necessary to explain our hiatus, return and semi-revamp we are doing to the blog.
This blog was litereally something that us two friends got together to do in order to chronicle our baking endeavors, good and bad. After a couple of months of half-assed attempts to blog something interesting we had some set backs in our personal lives and we gave up. Insert sadface and "awww" now.
After some partying and general oblivion to reality we are freaking back! We're back on a foodie kick that includes cooking as well as baking and our blog will reflect that. We both love to cook and when we decided to do a blog exclusively for baking it was in the midst of a baking kick. We couldn't see the forest for the trees, but we see now that our forest includes all cooking/baking/kitchen adventures.
Therefore...(drumroll)...we will be posting soon on our new and improved FOODIE BLOG, formerly known as a baking blog. See you soon!!

Lemon Layer Cake with Lemon Curd Filling and Raspberry Buttercream
As our friends and family have been our primary taste testers for our blog creations the requests have been coming in! One of our first requests is for "a lemon cake with some kind of lemon curd or lemon filling." So, being that we love a challenge we decided to oblige the request with a creation we've never done before!
After much deliberation we decided on a light lemon layer cake with a lemon curd filling. The difficulty was deciding on the frosting. Lemon buttercream? Possibly too much lemon. Since most any fruit flavor goes with lemon we narrowed our choices down to raspberry, blackberry and orange. Raspberry won!

Cinnamon Rolls
Have you ever walked through a mall food court and stopped dead in your tracks from the amazing smell coming from Cinnabon? Yeah, us too. Our recipe is as close to a Cinnabon roll as we could get. It's sinfully rich, in fact, we couldn't finish a whole roll on our own!
Homemade cinnamon rolls may seem complicated, but anyone can do it. There are three sections to this recipe. One is the dough, the filling and the icing. Enjoy!

Brownies
Just like the title of this post implies, this is a recipe for brownies, plain and simple. We promise we'll get into more complicated desserts, but we've still got a few simple desserts to cover first. One of those simple recipes is this one for brownies. We think we've found the perfect recipe for homemade brownies because it has a short list of ingredients, easy instructions and tastes great.
This recipe is not much more difficult that baking brownies from a box, but the pay off is huge. You can brag to your friends and family that you baked brownies from scratch which is way more impressive than the box, just don't tell them how easy it was! That shouldn't be too difficult because all they will be able to say is that these brownies are chewy, dense and uber chocolate-y!

Super Soft Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
What would a baking blog be without a post about cookies? We start with a Super Soft Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie. It's heavier on the chocolate than it is oats, but feel free to adjust to your tastes.
Before you gander at the recipe note that that in order to get a super chewy cookie the dough has to be moist even after it has been baked and cooled. That being said, this recipe is heavy on wet ingredients, yet is the normal consistency when the dough is ready to be scooped onto the cookie sheets. Seems counter intuitive, or at least it did to us, but seriously this cookie is perfectly chewy and moist. If anything could give us diabetes it would be these cookies because you can't have just one.

Double Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Buttercream
Our first post brought you the ultimate cheesecake recipe and our second post brings you...the ultimate Double Chocolate Cake! For those who love chocolate, this recipe brings intense chocolate flavor in the cake and seriously rich chocolate buttercream frosting. This is definitely not the recipe for anyone counting calories.
This recipe is not for the faint of heart, it's pretty complicated, but then again most "from scratch" recipes are. So, here goes...

Cheesecake
So, we have discussed starting a baking blog for at least a year now, but it never went any further than drunken musings of our confectionary adventures catapulting us into fame and fortune. Clearly that isn't going to happen, but we do like to bake and this blog gives us a reason to do it more often. While we have both independently baked a myriad of different desserts we are going to start with the basics and hone our "talent" into genuine "skill." Or we will develop diabetes and spend a lot of money to cover our kitchens with sugar and flour. Either way is cool.
As this is our first post we are going to start with the basics. After scouring the internet for recipes and reading hundreds of user reviews, we think we have come up with the best recipe and technique for making the perfect cheesecake. Oh yeah, this is just as presumptuous as it sounds. So here goes...
